Now that they’ve gotten to the halfway point in the competition, the models are treated to a journey to Seoul, Korea. “This is the best day of my life,” Lenox exclaims(her rendezvous with a bisexual spider is a close second…)
Adam shares the sentiment. He encourages everyone to bring some beer onto the plane to celebrate. The rest of the models insist that Adam’s drinking is “too over the top” for a “modelling competition”, but the sheer absurdity of this series convinces me otherwise.
Whether drunk or delirious, these models are a little too happy to be idle on a twelve-hour flight. (There are snakes on that plane!) While Adam is busy spiking copious amounts of banana milk, Lenox has some reservations about Chantelle’s excitement.
During last week’s panel, Tyra commented that, while her photo was stellar, Chantelle was a little “cold” on set. The judges write it off as getting re-adjusted to the competitive setting, but the other models swear that Chantelle is a mean girl.
As the models continue to give Chantelle the cold shoulder, things between Shei and Adam heat up. Now that they’re venturing to Asia, Shei wants to “keep it in the family.” She does worry about his drinking, though. She’s worried that sometimes, it borders on inappropriate.
Why is everyone feigning concern about Adam the Alcoholic? After ten weeks in that madhouse, I’d drink through this pomp and circumstance too. Nevertheless, the models treat Adam like a pariah. In honor of him, I think a new drinking game is in order:
.1 shot for every inch of Will’s heel
.2 shots for everytime Raelia’s lazy eye strays
.Chug for the duration of any Yu Tsai scream
Now that Will has packed all his pumps, Adam is sufficiently smashed. Off to Korea we go!.2 shots for everytime Raelia’s lazy eye strays
.Chug for the duration of any Yu Tsai scream
The moment the models take ground in Seoul, they are greeted by Yu Tsai and Miss Jay. Wanting to celebrate in style, they play a K-Pop song: “Beep Beep” by BtoB. The boy band comes out and teaches them some of the choreography from their music video.
The models must memorize the moves and dance for an adoring public. In the middle of the gyrating, the models will be photographed for a K-Pop magazine. Judging by the context of these clothes, these pictures will make great album covers:
Lenox, however, is scared of becoming a video vixen. She doesn’t know how to dance and is worried that the crowd will not be pleased. Given that the crowd consists of random Korean children bribed with free BtoB tickets and the chance to laugh at ditzy Americans, I’m sure they’re the least of Lenox’s concerns.
Shei, Adam, and Keith hit the dancefloor first. While Shei and Keith are able to get the rhythm, Adam has trouble dancing. He’s too tipsy to walk in a straight line; let alone dance in one. He stumbles through the song and attempts to dance on beat. When it’s over, Adam feels bad that he let the team down (quick! Someone put on Brown Eyed Girl! That’ll get him shaking!)
When the next group gets on stage, the crowd is immediately pumping. Raelia manages to keep the glamour amongst the gritty moves, and Keith moves nicely. Will panics into pirouettes instead of the original choreography, but still gets nice shots. Lenox is the only one to struggle against the music. Lenox doesn’t remember some of the moves, but makes up for it with awkward shapes and a very surprised face. How Furonda of her!
In the end, Chantelle, Keith, and Raelia are deemed the best. Even though the competition was “close”, Raelia is declared the winner.
Back at the house, the models find out their exact challenge scores. Distraught with having a 6 alongside Lenox, Adam decides to wash away the pain with a drink.
“I think he has a problem,” Raelia confronts Shei, looking her straight in the eyes (and at the toaster. 2 Shots!) Shei, worried about the man, eases Adam away from the bottle. It doesn’t last long; Adam returns to the drink in a few minutes. Contemplating if he’s still “boyfriend material”, Shei decides to focus on the competition instead of Adam.
Speaking of boyfriends, the next photoshoot is introduced by Yu Tsai as an advert for MCM handbags at the Seoul City Hall. It will be shot by Erik Asla, who has done the last four photoshoots. That’s right, since Gordon Ramsay is Tyra’s boyfriend, he’ll be doing every shot from now on. Paired with Yu Tsai, I’m sure those models are gonna have a blast:
Hell’s Bitchen
On set, Will decides to take risks in front of the client. When he takes to jumping, Yu Tsai is ecstatic. He agrees that Will has improved leaps and bounds and impressed the client. Shei also uses the space to her advantage, making interesting shapes. Likewise, Lenox used her prop delicately and fit the innocent mold the brand is looking for.
When Adam staggers onto set, he fails to understand the brief. Even after some help from Tyra, he is unable to beat the buzz. Keith also some obstacles to overcome. After shooting some walking frames, Yu Tsai requests that he jump. With a couple of failed attempts, Yu gets progressively angrier and mocks Keith’s inability to model (chug! chug! chug!)
Raelia is happy to get on set; she’s worn MCM handbags in her youth.Unfortunately, her alluring look is “a little much” for the brand and Tyra suggests being less flirtatious with the camera (and cameraman. Cougars are very protective of their young!)
After some more mediocre frames, they decide to put Raelia on all-fours. But not sexy. They specifically tell Raelia not to be sexy as she straddles the pavement. She manages to get some decent shots but the client is not happy; claiming Raelia’s look is “too sexual” for the brand. You think they’d learn from the last virgin not to plop them on the floor...
Chantelle is the last girl to arrive on set. Before the shoot, Yu Tsai tries to cheer up his “little panda.” Chantelle attempts to educate Yu Tsai on his offensive little pet name but he refuses to listen. Now, we all know Yu Tsai is an asshole (after all, you are what you eat!), but perhaps this tiger can change his stripes.
Anyway, on set, Chantelle takes direction well and tries to conform to the photographer’s wishes. The other models however, note that her “attitude” on set makes her difficult to work with. This sentiment travels over to the house, where the models continue to bash Chantelle.
She may not be here to make friends, but Chantelle doesn’t like feeling attacked. Nevertheless, the other models spend no time calling her a mean girl.
“I wish we could all get along like we used to in week one. I wish I could bake a cake filled with booches and beard weaves and everyone would eat and be happy,”Chantelle sobs. Still, the models make no moves toward warming up to Chantelle.
Chantelle Brown-Young Is A Fugly Slut?
But these burns don’t faze Chantelle. She is eager to continue on in the competition, and has no qualms about being friendly with the others.
Panel
Kelly loves the "dirtiness" in Lenox's pose and awards her with a 10. Miss Jay thinks there's a "safety" in it and gives a 7. Tyra settles on an 8.
Tyra admires Raelia's commitment on set, but the final photo is lackluster. She gets two 6s and a 7.
Kelly likes that the product is visible and deems Adam an 8. Tyra allows him a 9 and Miss Jay gives a 7.
There are great proportions in this photograph, and the judges agree that Will is dynamic. He gets straight 10s from the trio.
Miss Jay likes the movement in the picture but Kelly insists that the product needs more of the spotlight. Shei is given two 8s and a 7.
Even though Keith had to be coached into the pose, the judges are crazy about his "elongated" structure. The triad gives him straight 10s as well.
Miss Jay gives Chantelle an 8 for the pose. The women are less impressed, citing her attitude on set. Tyra feels like Chantelle needs to lose control (nice plug, Ty!) and gives her a 6 with Kelly.
"Now the judges and I will add up these scores and see who will still be in the running toward becoming America's Next Top Model."
"The model with the best score is..."
KEITH (46.4)
WILL (45.8)
LENOX (39.7)
SHEI (37.9)
ADAM (36.2)
"Chantelle and Raelia, you two have the lowest scores. With a score of 35.8 to 35.4, the girl that will remain in this competition is..."
CHANTELLE
With only six models left, the competition really heats up. Next week, the models will be participating on go-sees and a shoot in theGyeongbokgung Palace. So, until next week!
